Roberta Ciusa, Interior designer and creative force behind BabaLab, has been an associate of the British Institute of Interior Design in London since 2021. With a degree in Design & Architecture and a profound passion for art, she has spent over a decade designing unconventinal spaces that narrate compelling stories. Her work seamlessly integrates technical precision with a nuanced understanding of project operations, timelines, and aesthetics—resulting in designs that are both innovative on-time and on brand. Renowned for her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to client satisfaction, Roberta has cultivated BabaLab into a dynamic collective where a team of talented professionals shares the same vision and dedication to creating exceptional environments.
Founded in 2011, as Studio Ciusa and rebranded in 2016 BabaLab began as a multidisciplinary studio with a strong passion for crafting experiential spaces; in 2023, I have grown my connection to articulate the studio as an alive organism, a collective pool of interior designer, graphics,a rchitects and engineer which can offer you a comprensive and coordianted consultancy experience which operates between London, Rome and Sardinia.

The origin
Babalab took shape in 2011, born from the desire to reinterpret Studio Ciusa, the practice founded by my father Michele A. Ciusa, Architect and which whom intellect was dedicated to arts, architecture, cultural diversity and preserve Sardinian arts and crafts traditions for future generations, as when he did when he was Director of the I.S.R.E. Museum, and the Lions Club.
What began as continuity of his Architectural studio soon became a transformation; a way to honor a family legacy while opening new ground for design languages experimentation; a multidisciplinary studio where Exhibition design, Branding, Furniture design, interaction design, Design R&D, cohesist fueled by collaboration with Local artisans, artist, creative, and Designer, a pollination between differen diciplines, that has flowrished granting Baba-Design-Lab to have the privilege to attend and exibit under invite on multiple occasion:

Interior focus
As Babalab evolved, moving to Rome in 2016, the studio pivoted and expanded through residential projects, collaborating with design‑and‑build companies in Italy and abroad. This shift led to an increasingly integrated approach to interiors, architecture, and brand experience.
These partnerships strengthened the studio’s ability to deliver complex projects across different markets and design disciplines from Interior Design to Architectural interiors and furniture design
A new phase
In 2023, Babalab has rebranded and is entering a new chapter expanding its ambitions within the UK market.
Our team of skilled interior designers, architects, and graphic artists has worked with award‑winning firms such as Studio Moren and SMC, leading design projects across the EMEA region for well‑known brands.
The expertise in operations, brand standards, hospitality, and F&B can effectively support our clients in optimising workflows, enhancing spatial organisation, and elevating the overall customer experience.
Our next milestones include collaborating on small‑ to medium‑scale hotel and hospitality developments, strengthening our international presence, and expanding the studio’s role as a bridge between design, culture, and craftsmanship.
